SUMMARY OF SPECIFICATIONS:

Advertisement for Bids for Flushing Community Schools  Project Information: Sealed bid proposals will be accepted from qualified contractors by Flushing Community Schools for Flushing Community Schools for the Flushing Community Schools Sinking Fund 2013. Proposals may be mailed or delivered in person to:   Michele Blair, Associate Superintendent   c/o Flushing Community Schools   522 N. McKinley Rd.  Flushing, MI 48433 Pre-Bid Meeting: A pre-bid meeting and project walk-through will be conducted by the Construction Manager, Wolgast Corporation, and the Architect, Kingscott Associates, on February 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM (local time) at the Flushing Early Childhood Center Room 105. Bid Information: Proposals must be received prior to 2:00 PM (local time) on February 28, 2013 at the Flushing Community Schools Administration Office. Proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 PM in the Flushing Community Schools Administration Building. All bids received after 2:00 PM on the bid date will not be accepted and will be returned to the Bidder unopened. Proposals and Award: The Project will utilize separate prime contractors. All contracts for construction will be direct contracts with the Owner. Overall administration of the Project will be the responsibility of the Construction Management Firm, Wolgast Corporation. The Owner will award contracts on or about March 19, 2013, to separate prime contractors for separate bid divisions or combinations of bid divisions. All bids shall be submitted on the bid forms provided in the project specifications, completely filled in, and executed (copies of the bid forms are acceptable). Facsimile bids will not be accepted.  Plans and Questions: Requests by Contractors for inclusion as Bidders shall be addressed to the Project Manager, Steve Salyers, at Wolgast Corporation. One (1) set of Bidding Documents will be provided to each contractor furnishing a plan deposit fee of $50.00 per paper set and $0 deposit for CDs through Wolgast Corporation.  All checks and/or money orders are to be made payable to the Flushing Community Schools. Plan deposits are refundable. Plans may be obtained by contacting the Project Administrator, Judy Rauch, at Wolgast Corporation at (989) 790-9120. All questions regarding the bidding procedures, design, and drawing/specification intent are to be directed to the Construction Manager on a Clarification Request Form (Section 00310), attention Steve Salyers. Bid Security: A Bid Security by a qualified surety authorized to do business in the state where the Project is located and in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Base Bid shall accompany each proposal or proposal combination. The Bid Security may be in the form of a Bid Bond, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order. Personal checks are NOT acceptable. Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after the bid date. Successful Bidders may be required to furnish Surety Bonds as stated in the Project Specifications (Section 00600). Familial Disclosure: All bidders must provide familial disclosure in compliance with MCL 380.1267 and attach this information to the bid. The bid shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship that exists between the Owner or the employee of the bidder and any member of the board, intermediate school board, or board of directors or the superintendent of the school district, intermediate superintendent of the intermediate school district, or chief executive officer of the public school academy.
